Right as it seemed like the Houston Texans ‘ wide receiver room was starting to gain momentum back following the season-ending injury to Jayden Higgins, which led to the trade for Kayshon Boutte, the Texans were dealt brutal injury news.
It was announced that the Texans were placing Tank Dell on the injured reserve list with a designation to return as he continues to recover from the knee injury he suffered in December 2024. Dell will now miss the first four games.

For the duration in which Dell is out, the Texans face the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, and Dallas Cowboys. The Texans need their passing game to get into a rhythm fast to ensure CJ Stroud can establish momentum early on.
Jaylin Noel and Boutte now factor in as the top two options, and while they should find success, there is now an extra added sense of pressure on them. There will also now be more pressure on offensive coordinator Nick Caley as he needs to figure out how to get the two factored into larger roles early on.
