Houston Texans have an opportunity to show up division rival in a huge way that is sure to cause even more drama

A few years ago the Tennessee Titans made throwback uniforms using the Houston Oilers logo and colors. Now, of course, the Oilers are part of the Titans history because that team did move to Tennessee. However, it is a bit confusing with the Houston Texans and all of the history of the city.

There is drama between the two franchises, the two cities, the two fan bases, and anything else you could think of. Those Oilers uniforms have a certain type of blue on them, and it's actually known as Houston blue, the same color that is on the Houston city flag. The Texans wanted the rights to those uniforms and logo back so that they could make their throwback uniforms with something that embodies the history of the city and professional football.

But, they haven't been able to do that, or use that color, due to the NFL and the Titans, who own the Oilers' branding, not allowing it.

But, the Titans are not ever using the Oilers throwback uniforms again. So, does that open the door for the Texans? Likely not, due to the NFL rules and the Titans likely not ever giving that history or branding back. But the Texans can do something similar, with similar colors to throw shots at the Titans, especially as seeing that there are new uniforms coming to be used as specific rivalry uniforms.

"And I know the NFL announced a rivalry uniform, they are starting it this year, and we get to do ours in 2026 against a division rival. We are currently working on those uniforms, so it should be fun, H-Town pride, and we are really looking forward to that," owner Hannah McNair said. "They're not totally finished yet."

"They look really good, too... We know how much you guys like certain colors, so we are going to work those in," Cal McNair continued.

It sounds a whole lot like to me the Texans may try to do just that, and if there is any team they want to wear them against, you know it's the Titans. Hannah McNair and Cal McNair have expressed how they feel about the Oiler throwbacks for the Titans, and how Tennessee does it solely just to run it in the Texans' faces.

Now, it's time to create a uniform that does it right back. And, who knows, they could even wear them against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts, too.
