The Houston Texans officially have their Week 1 starter. On Sunday, head coach DeMeco Ryans named rookie C.J. Stroud the starter to open the 2023 regular season.
Houston opens the 2023 season against the Baltimore Ravens. So Stroud will have his work cut out for him, taking on former league MVP Lamar Jackson to start his career in the NFL.
Stroud was the No. 2 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was taken behind former Alabama standout Bryce Young.

Stroud was a two-year starter at Ohio State, leading the Buckeyes to a College Football Playoff berth last season. There are high expectations for the rookie to become the next face of the Texans franchise.
