As previously discussed on Gridiron Heroics, the Houston Texans look to bolster the offensive line with reports that the goal is to add four linemen in free agency. This news comes after trading Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns and Juice Scruggs to the Detroit Lions, which weakened their depth. With the tampering window opening on Monday at 11 a.m., the Texans could feature four new starters in 2026, depending on what they do with a free agent guard.
The Texans acquired Ed Ingram from the Vikings for a 2026 sixth-round pick, not expecting him to turn his career around and have an immediate impact. He won the starting right job in training camp and was a pleasant surprise, starting 16 games and excelling in run blocking while holding up in pass protection. The front office was hoping to reach an agreement with Ingram before the tampering window opens, and risk losing him, as his salary on the open market could be higher than what they are willing to offer. Spotrac projected his next contract to be three years, $39 million.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Texans have re-signed Ed Ingram to a three-year, $37.5 million contract. His $12.5 million annual salary makes him the tenth-highest-paid right guard. The offensive line now has two offensive line positions locked in, with Aireontae Ersery at left or right tackle, Ingram at right guard, and Trent Brown in contention for the starting right tackle position and swing tackle role, leaving left guard, center, and one tackle spot in question.
Sources: The #Texans and standout G Ed Ingram have agreed to terms on a 3-year, $37.5M deal to keep him in Houston.
