Houston Texans to play in Hall of Fame Game against Chicago Bears
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans now have an advantage over every team in the NFL except for the Chicago Bears. The Texans finished the 2023 season hot., besides losing their final game to the Baltimore Ravens. Before that, they looked like there wasn't a team in the league who could beat them. For the 2024 season, they hope to pick up where they left off.

Before the season starts, though, they have to go through the draft and fill some holes that way. Then, it's training camp to make sure everyone understands the offensive and defensive systems being put in place. After that, it's the preseason, which is where the advantage comes in place.

Now, it's not a huge advantage, but it's one that 30 other teams cannot say they have. The Texans will have the privilege of getting their season started early with one other team.

According to multiple reports, the Texans will play the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame Game, which is the first game of the year and a week before preseason even starts. The Texans are excited about the opportunity.

"It's exciting playing in the Hall of Fame Game and I think the credit goes to Andre Johnson for being the first Texans ever selected to the Hall of Fame," DeMeco Ryans said at the Annual League Meetings. "So for us to be able to support Andre in the Hall of Fame Game. It's our first time as an organization playing in the Hall of Fame Game. It's exciting to really kick off the 2024 season with our team being at the forefront."

The Texans have the advantage of knowing how their team will look a week before everyone else; whether the starters play or not, it's still important to see what the team looks like with the depth and how the offense and defense are run. It's not a huge advantage, but it's an advantage nonetheless.

Oh, and the Texans could be the first team to see Caleb Williams, who is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick. We could see Stroud vs. Williams for a bit in the very first game of the season.
