The Houston Texans are going to start training camp this week. On July 17, rookies and quarterbacks are due to report to camp, which this year, much like just about every year, will be held right next to NRG Stadium at the practice facility.
The Texans have already announced some key dates for camp, including dates that fans are allowed to watch, as well as other dates. At camp, fans may see some players they don't necessarily know.
That is normal, as teams usually make signings before camp to give a few players a shot that they think can help their team if all goes well.
The Texans did that a few days ago by signing a former UFL defender and may do it again soon.
According to Dylan Delgatto, the Texans are going to work out former Texans training camp stud Jesse Mathews, who was an undrafted free agent from San Diego State last season. He is a wide receiver who has a few tools the Texans like.
The #Texans are working out WR Jesse Matthews today, a source tells me.

Matthews was on the roster last season as a UDFA and had a VERY strong training camp. Matthew went down with an injury and spent the whole season on the IL. He was medically cleared this week. Strong mutual… pic.twitter.com/p5iKfgs4Zn
The Texans have a few open roster spots available and may be trying to do whatever they feel they need before camp starts. Mathews could end up being a guy that is great on the practice squad.
