While Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown attracted some attention when he seemed to criticize quarterback Jalen Hurts following the club's Week 14 win over the Carolina Panthers, veteran defensive end Brandon Graham placed a massive spotlight on the potential controversy when he said last week that Brown and Hurts "were friends, but things have changed."
Graham eventually walked those comments back, and he explained during a Tuesday appearance on Philadelphia's SportsRadio 94WIP how he handled the matter as the Eagles prepared to face the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday.
"I didn’t listen to nothing," Graham said, as shared by Chris Franklin of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com "I was like, 'Just get to the game and block out the noise, and don’t even turn the TV on because I know they were going crazy.' But I was like, 'All right, just let’s go out here and take care of business,' and that’s what we did."
Graham ultimately apologized to teammates for creating a potential distraction. Meanwhile, Brown, Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni all addressed the situation behind the scenes leading up to the Pittsburgh game.
Hurts then completed 25-of-32 passes for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns en route to guiding the Eagles to a 27-13 win that improved them to 12-2 on the season. Brown caught eight-of-11 targets for 110 yards and a score versus the Steelers.
NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic has since revealed that she believes the Eagles are "the best team in football" and have "a lot of that magic" that propelled Philadelphia to a Super Bowl LII victory in February 2018.
"If anything, I was more hyped about that because that’s all it was for — it was on my heart to do it," Graham said about the Eagles winning a 10th straight game. "We have something special. We all want special stuff, and I’m just happy that it happened the way it did."
As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Eagles as the overall betting favorites at +220 odds to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX ahead of a 12-2 Detroit Lions side (+230 odds) that's dealing with an injury crisis. Philadelphia next plays at the 9-5 Washington Commanders Sunday.
