The Packers have opened the season 2-0, and the offense might not even be firing on all cylinders just yet.
Still, as quarterback Jordan Love continues to work on timing with first-round rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, tight end Tucker Kraft has been an explosive play factory as head coach Matt LaFleur and Green Bay haven’t shied away from taking shots deep downfield against the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders to open the season.
As Justis Mosqueda points out, Love is second in passes traveling at least 20 yards downfield and leads the NFL with a 12.5 average air yards per throw.
That kind of big-play ability can tilt the field, and change the trajectory of games.
Last week against the Commanders, Love and the Packers’ passing game hit on completions of 57, 37, 23, and 17 yards, underscoring Green Bay’s quick-strike and big-play ability.
Love has been a tactician from the pocket, especially as defensive coordinators have dialed up extra pressure, blitzing on third-most snaps that any quarterback has faced, so far.
As Love and Golden continue to bolster their connection, and as Kraft continues to thrive after the catch, the Packers’ offense has the chance to be even more prolific, especially if defensive coordinators continue to send extra pressure.
