How Long Will This Take?

After 25 years of misery, not winning even a wild-card playoff game, Dolphins fans are left wondering.

Yet again, another waiting period, a “rebuild”, a term not desired by new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan or head coach Jeff Hafley.

Yet, to a fan, a loyal fan, we must wonder how long this drought will last.

We have already experienced humiliation as the New York Knicks had not won a championship in 53 years, exactly the year the Dolphins won their last Super Bowl.

And we are not even remotely close.

Brought back memories of the good old days, when the Miami team was dominant.

One of the greatest teams in football.

A dominating defense, an insurmountable offense, and a head coach challenging his players on every play.

That was a long time ago.

I have heard and read that many experts are very positive about Sullivan and Hafley.

I have also heard and read that the “rebuild” may bear fruit in 2027.

Or possibly 2028 or later.

If later than 2028, say goodbye to our new regime.

So, what is the actual prospective future of the 2026 Miami Dolphins?

I have an early prediction.

In 2026, our newly signed quarterback will sometimes shine, sometimes suck, and sometimes be average.

Malik Willis is young and inexperienced, and as much as Sullivan and Hafley believe in him, let’s speak the word that Dolphins fans hate, that is, “patient.”

In 2027, I sincerely believe, or want to believe, that the Miami Dolphins will compete for at least the playoffs.

Why?

I believe this because of the new culture that Sullivan and Hafley are building, and the expectation that no one is safe on the roster unless you work your ass off and perform on the field.

Let’s look at the players on this team, including Kenneth Grant, Jordan Phillips, Zeek Biggers, Kyle Louis, Jacob Rodriguez, Chris Johnson , Kadyn Proctor, Jonah Savaiinaea, and young veterans such as Aaron Brewer, Jordyn Brooks, De’Von Achane, Malik Willis, Malik Washington, and Dante Trader, Jr.

Not a complete list because Sullivan signed many prospects who are hungry to prove themselves and compete.

So, my prediction?

This “rebuild will take shape in 2027 and make the playoffs.

That is at least what I look forward to.
