Quarterback Jordan Love might not just be hitting stride, but leveling up significantly, as the second half of the Packers‘ season begins in earnest.
Tight end Tucker Kraft continuing to bolster his reputation as one of the NFL’s breakout stars and most explosive weapons in Love’s supporting cast, against Pittsburgh, was just one of the pieces of the puzzle that emerged for a potentially prolific offense in Sunday night’s win.
As the trade deadline approaches, conventional wisdom might suggest general manager Brian Gutekunst may need to upgrade Green Bay’s receiving corps, but, if Sunday is any indication, help me already be on the way.
“Christian Watson returned, with significant effect,” USA TODAY Sports’ Nate Davis writes. “Sunday night, and fellow WR Jayden Reed shouldn’t be too far behind for an offense seemingly loaded with 1A weapons − even if a No. 1 receiver has yet to emerge. An already accelerating team could be poised to hit another gear.”
Watson was stellar in his return, catching all four of his targets from Love, and the Packers could be on the cusp of fielding an even more prolific receiving corps once Jayden Reed returns to the field in the weeks ahead.
If Kraft continues to play this dominantly, Watson gets stronger the further he gets from the injury, and Reed gets back, the Packers’ offense could become one of the NFL’s most dominant.
