How Patrick Mahomes is already over these NFL legends in the history books

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already a legend at only 28 years old. He very well could become an even bigger legend by the time it's all said and done and he hangs up his cleats.

With that said, his performance in Kansas City's Super LVIII win over the San Francisco 49ers put him in some pretty rarefied air.

Even if he randomly decided to "hang 'em up" after Kansas City's parade on Wednesday — he'd go down in the history books ahead of some of the best to ever do it.

No, it's not total Lombardi Trophies. Tom Brady, with seven, still is the king in that regard. Mahomes does already have three, though.

Where Mahomes has excelled over the past few seasons, and especially in the playoffs, has been touchdown passes. He threw six in this past run, including two in the Super Bowl, and those touchdowns put him in iconic air.

In fact, in just 18 postseason games, he's accumulated 40 touchdown passes. That was quicker than Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Mahomes' numbers truly are mind-boggling, especially for such a young player.

Consider the fact that he now has more Super Bowl rings total (three) than Rodgers and Favre have combined. He now also has more Super Bowl wins than Manning, and not to mention Eli Manning as well.

There's legend and then there's legendary. Mahomes has quickly become the latter — and he's still going.
