The San Francisco 49ers have had an incredible turnaround in 2019, going from 4-12 last season to NFC champs. Here's a look at how they got this far.

San Francisco opened its season with a big win on the road after scoring 25 points in the second half. The 49ers defense picked off Jameis Winston three times and also recovered one fumble.

The 49ers had no problem taking care of the Bengals in Week 2, as Jimmy Garoppolo threw three touchdowns. Matt Breida also had a big day on the ground with 12 carries for 121 yards.

In what was considered a possible Super Bowl preview at the time, San Francisco came up just short on a wet Sunday in Baltimore. Most of the offense on both sides was on the ground due to the conditions, and Raheem Mostert had 19 carries for 146 yards and one score. The Niners had trouble containing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on the ground, however, as he ran for 101 yards and one touchdown.

San Francisco came out on top at New Orleans in what might have been the best game of the 2019 season. Jimmy Garoppolo showed he could put the team on his back with 349 passing yards and four touchdowns. Midseason acquisition Emmanuel Sanders threw one touchdown and caught another, while tight end George Kittle made a key first down late in the game that helped put the 49ers in position to kick the game-winning field goal.

San Francisco had a home letdown one week following a huge win at New Orleans. With just two seconds remaining, Julio Jones caught a 5-yard touchdown pass to put the Falcons in front. Jimmy Garoppolo was also held in check for most of the day, finishing with only 200 passing yards.

The 49ers eliminated L.A. from playoff contention on a 33-yard Robbie Gould field goal as time expired. Jimmy Garoppolo struggled with two interceptions, but he was picked up by the 49ers running game, which averaged 5.2 yards per carry in 23 attempts.

The NFC West title was at stake in Week 17 when the 49ers faced off against the Seahawks in a rematch of their classic Week 10 showdown. San Francisco held a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter after Raheem Mostert scored his second touchdown, but Russell Wilson brought Seattle back. On fourth-and-goal with 12 seconds remaining, tight end Jacob Hollister was stopped just short of the goal line to seal the San Francisco victory.

Minnesota shocked New Orleans in the wild-card round but couldn't repeat their magic at San Francisco. The 49ers dominated on the ground with 186 rushing yards, and the defense held the Vikings to only 147 total yards. Tevin Coleman led the 49ers with 22 carries for 105 yards and two scores.

San Francisco had Green Bay's number for the second time, easily running over the Packers to win the NFC championship. Raheem Mostert had 29 carries for 220 yards and four touchdowns, and the 49ers defense forced three turnovers.
