How Will Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers Match?
Imagn Images

The Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers rumor carousel finally ended yesterday when it was announced that the veteran quarterback was signing a one-year contract with the team. Rodgers will report to mandatory minicamp which starts next week after he flies to Pittsburgh to sign his deal today. With that being said how will the two sides of this connection interact with each other?

How Aaron Rodgers Can Thrive In Pittsburgh

Aaron Rodgers will thrive in Pittsburgh if he embraces what the Steelers organization is all about. Hard work, embracing teammates, and believing in a team mentality is what Rodgers needs to focus on. He has some good options to throw to, including DK Metcalf, Robert Woods, Pat Freiermuth, and a steadily improving Calvin Austin III.

The Pittsburgh Steelers might not be done adding receiving threats either. There is a report out there that the Pittsburgh Steelers made a call to the Atlanta Falcons about Tight End Kyle Pitts. Pittsburgh could be loading up with options for Rodgers to throw to. If he can stay focused and stay healthy, then the Steelers have a chance this year.

How Aaron Rodgers Will Fail On the Pittsburgh Steelers

Rodgers will fail with the Steelers if he fails to stay on the field and has trouble focusing on football. He’s one of the best quarterbacks to ever play, but he sometimes tends to focus on himself more than the team analysts around the injury. Even Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw called Aaron Rodgers a “joke” when referring to Rodgers’s lengthy time to decide on where to sign.

If Rodgers can drown that out and stay healthy, then that eliminates the two main concerns about him. He can still throw the ball, and he can still perform. Not to the level he once did, but that’s obvious given his age.

Last Thoughts

It is pretty simple for Aaron Rodgers. Prove you want to be in Pittsburgh and prove that the Steelers were right in being incredibly patient with him. The Steelers passed on multiple free agent quarterbacks, including choosing not to re-sign Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, which was not popular among the fanbase. Rodgers has some things to prove this season.
