Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is notorious for his willingness to go after even his best players in the film room for a mistake.
One of the best free agents left in the 2025 market, former Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, recently joined 'The Money Down Podcast' , hosted by former Patriots running back James White, Sojourn Shelton, and Warren Herring, and the latest example of Belichick's ruthless film room candor is worth a good laugh.
Although Gilmore certainly wasn't laughing at the time.
Bill Belichick is brutally honest in team meetings - if you slip up on a key point, expect to hear about it @BumpNrunGilm0re

"He killed me one day, bro. It's when I first got there, I was pressed down on a receiver. It was a bunch route where all of us where on the same level and I got picked...he killed me the next meeting. Bro, I almost cried how he did that. Ain't gonna lie to you, I went to the bathroom like "Man!". But I'll tell you one thing, I never got picked again after that."
- Former Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore
The legends of Bill Belichick's film room tormenting of players continues. Whether it was Gilmore, Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady or anyone else that was lower on the totem pole, Belichick gave it to all of his players equally — which was a part of why New England's teams were so strong for so good. The accountability was exceptionally high and no one wanted to draw ire in the meeting room.
For Gilmore, the question is now whether or not he'll land with a team for the 2025 season. Regardless of where he does end up, he can rest easy knowing that Bill Belichick won't be waiting for him in the film room. It's a different era and Bill is looking to impress on the next generation of players down in the college ranks.
Although those youngsters can heed a warning from Gilmore's experience. Don't get caught on the same level as your teammates out of 'bunch'. Belichick doesn't like it and neither will you.
