Orlando Brown Jr. and Dalton Risner, two former Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year honorees, are now teammates with the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2025 season. Oklahoma will be meeting Kansas State pretty soon when Risner reports to practice for the first time in Cincinnati after signing with the club.

"I think he's going to help us a ton," Brown said of Risner to local reporters Wednesday. "Everybody knows what he's done in the league, man. Honestly, even in college, from what I remember, I think he went to Kansas State, right? Yeah. So I'm a little familiar with his game. I mean, he's been that guy."

What type of guy? The Bengals' left tackle had some thoughts on the matter.

Orlando Brown Jr. breaks down Dalton Risner's game

Risner has been in the NFL for a while, but not as long as Brown. Now entering his eighth year, Joe Burrow's blindside tackle has carved out an incredibly successful career blocking for three of the game's best quarterbacks. Hand usage and footwork have helped him maintain success, and he sees that in Risner along with a special mental ingredient.

"I know that he's a dawg," Brown continued regarding Risner. "He's got tremendous feet. He does a great job also using his hands in pass protection. He's a really big guy as well. So sounds like a mesh and an easy fit in our room."

Risner's chops in pass pro are warranted. He's consistently kept his QBs clean for most of the 81 regular season and one playoff game he's appeared in. He also been charged for just nine penalties over the course of 5,129 career snaps.

Being a dawg is probably up to Brown's own interpretation, but it doesn't weaken the resume by any means.

Risner may not be starting at right guard for Cincinnati in Week 1, but his presence immediately boosts the unit Brown has done a great job representing for the past two years. Adding more help next to him is always a good idea when Super Bowls are on the mind.
