Top NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz have found themselves in the news during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, just not for the reason you'd typically expect. The pair got into an altercation at a Starbucks on Wednesday, and on Friday, Rapoport came forward to shoot down one of the key details from the incident.
On Wednesday, Rapoport and Schultz shared conflicting reports about an alleged meeting between Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady at a ski resort in Montana. Schultz wasn't happy with Rapoport's handling of the situation, leading to the confrontation.
"Per multiple sources who witnessed the interaction, Jordan Schultz of Fox and Ian Rapport of NFL Media engaged in a verbal altercation on Wednesday afternoon at the Starbucks at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. Schultz, we’re told, accosted Rapoport," Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported.
With the situation escalating, reports claimed that Rapoport called NFL security on Schultz, which pretty much ended things. However, Pat McAfee claimed on his show, "The Pat McAfee Show" that Rapoport disputed that claim, with the high-profile reporter briefly stopping by to deny that he called security on Schultz.
"I think you have good sources in this situation," Rapoport said to McAfee on "The Pat McAfee Show." "How would I do that? What number? ... 911? Nah, man."

Regardless of who did what, both Rapoport and Schultz will be happy to know that their reporting on the Stafford/Brady meeting proved to be fairly inconsequential, as Stafford agreed to a restructured contract with the Los Angeles Rams on Friday.
With this incident (hopefully) in the rear view mirror now, Rapoport and Schultz will turn their attention back to the 2025 combine, with the action set to wrap up on Sunday, March 2.
