The New Orleans Saints may have to enter the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes, especially now that Derek Carr is in jeopardy of missing the 2025 season.
Carr is reportedly dealing with a serious shoulder injury. It's a tough blow for the Saints. The plan was to start the veteran quarterback during the first year of the Kellen Moore era. Now that he's on the shelf, the coaching staff will have to consider all options. One of those options could be Rodgers.
Despite being linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers all offseason, Rodgers has not yet signed a contract.
On Friday night, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport spoke with Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football about the possibility of the Saints signing Rodgers.
Rapoport doesn't expect the Saints to land Rodgers. However, he could envision a scenario where they make a run at the four-time MVP.
"Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback available. I think everyone assumes he's going to Pittsburgh," Rapoport said. "He hasn't made a decision. Pittsburgh, I think, is a better team. I would imagine the Saints would look at him. I'd imagine, I wouldn't know. How willing would he really be to go there knowing where the roster is? It isn't in a bad place, but it's not where the Steelers are."

If the Saints aren't interested in making a serious run at Rodgers, they may have an eye on a certain quarterback in this year's draft.
For what it's worth, DraftKings has the Saints as -130 favorites to select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Could the Saints always roll the dice with Spencer Rattler or Jake Haener? Sure, but that plan probably won't excite the fan base in New Orleans.
