The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the most active teams in the NFL during the 2025 free agency period.
They'll have a new-look offense next season, swapping out Geno Smith for Sam Darnold at quarterback, and parting with wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett -- paving the way for Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the No. 1 and bringing in former All-Pro Cooper Kupp as the No. 2.
The Seahawks also made a major signing on the defensive side of the ball, giving defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence a three-year, $42 million contract. All of these moves have been exciting, but there are still some areas that need improved. Let's take a look at the top remaining needs for Seattle as we enter the second wave of free agency and inch closer to the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Seahawks don't have a single guard on their roster who is starting-caliber. In 11 starts during the 2024 season, Anthony Bradford ranked 117th out of 132 qualifying guards in overall grade, per Pro Football Focus. After losing Laken Tomlinson, OG is by far Seattle's most glaring need.
There are still a couple of good options left in free agency, such as Teven Jenkins and Brandon Scherff. If Seattle can nab one of them and use an early draft pick on a OG who can start right off the bat, it will be in good shape.
Smith-Njigba and Kupp are a great place to start, but there's not much quality depth behind them. The Seahawks signed veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal, but he's really a one-trick pony as an occasional deep threat.
Another factor to consider is Kupp's recent health history, missing 18 games over the past three seasons. If he has to miss a significant chunk of time, Seattle will be in trouble. After signing Kupp, it won't likely bring in another big-name free agent WR, but perhaps another journeyman plus a high draft pick will do the trick.
The Seahawks could save a decent chunk of change by releasing the underproducing starter Noah Fant, but that doesn't seem likely this late into free agency.
Fant is not living up to the $13.4 million salary cap hit he's about to take up this season, so pairing him with a rookie with upside would make sense. Fant is also set to hit free agency next year, so having a replacement ready to go would be ideal.
Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon are a great duo, but there's not much else at the position for Seattle to hang its hat on, especially with Tre Brown jumping ship to the rival San Francisco 49ers.
With Witherspoon performing so well in the slot, it would be nice if the Seahawks could land a true boundary CB so Witherspoon wouldn't have to split time between the two areas. A veteran like free agent Rasul Douglas would make a lot of sense, and would come affordable on a short-term deal.
