Brashard Smith , newest running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, recently spoke to reporters during the rookie camp which was held on Sunday. Smith was asked numerous questions, especially about being compared to other running backs from other teams. To this, Smith answered coolly and confidently that he hopes to be and play just as himself.

Smith was selected by the Chiefs as the 228th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft. Before this, the 22-year-old running back split his college football career between the Miami Hurricanes and the SMU Mustangs. In his senior year with SMU, Smith managed a total of 235 carries for 1,332 yards, scoring 14 touchdowns for the team.

“I’m going to show who I am for sure,” Brashard Smith mentioned to press reporters during the rookie camp on Sunday.

Smith has had a pretty interesting career till date, being initially touted as wide receiver and then a kick returner. According to Smith himself, he hopes to use her versatile experience to help him in his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs will definitely be eager to put Brashard Smith to the test in the 2025 NFL season. The Chiefs came so close to winning the Super Bowl and gaining a three-peat, but were beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Kansas City Chiefs, headed by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, will be hoping to win the Super Bowl and get back on the winning horse.

Brashard Smith Will Prove Invaluable To Kansas City’s Offense

Brashard Smith is only one of Kansas City’s offseason moves, but will definitely prove worthwhile to a Chiefs team who is desperate to improve their offensive line after the 2024 NFL season taught them a lesson. It is true that in the previous season, the Chiefs struggled in consistency, especially when it comes to their offensive line. This was too easy to navigate by the Philadelphia Eagles who ended up clinching the trophy.

Despite having budget issues, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to bring in more bulwarks offensively. However, the team seems to have left out another important part – their defense. In the previous Super Bowl matchup against the Eagles, the KC did not do or could not do anything to stop the opponent quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Kansas City will also be keeping their fingers crossed for Rashee Rice’s return for this exact reason. If the Chiefs want another Super Bowl trophy, they will need to double down in this area, and that too, fast.
