Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts are in an interesting situation heading into the 2025 NFL season. While the team invested the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft into quarterback Anthony Richardson, they still haven’t found a long-term proven answer under center.

Richardson was supposed to come in and become the franchise quarterback. He has done anything but that in his first two seasons.

Throughout his first two years, Richardson has only played in 15 games due to multiple injury issues. In the games he has played, he has been underwhelming. Richardson has completed just 50.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, while also rushing for 635 yards and 10 touchdowns.

At 23 years old, there is still time for him to turn things around, but there are major concerns about his future.

Daniel Jones was brought in to compete for the starting job with Richardson in 2025. He has shown potential of being a legitimate NFL starter, but has had his own issues.

That could lead to the Colts making a major move next offseason.

Keeping all of that in mind, Indianapolis has been named as a team who will be looking to draft a quarterback next offseason.

Truthfully, that is probably a good prediction. Richardson and Jones, barring a major change of events, do not appear to be long-term franchise quarterback options for the Colts.

In the 2026 NFL Draft, there are quite a few high-level quarterback prospects who will be available. Names like Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik, LaNorris Sellers, Garrett Nussmeier, and potentially even Arch Manning will be available. Indianapolis could look into any of those options.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Colts. They have a talented roster but are missing a quarterback. Perhaps next offseason they will finally find a new face of their franchise who will stick long-term and live up to the hype.

Hopefully, Richardson or Jones can change that perspective in 2025, but that is where the team currently stands.
