Former Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson has not had an easy transition to the NFL, to say the least.
In two NFL seasons, he has played in 15 games, throwing for 2,391 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
On Tuesday, head coach Shane Steichen announced the starting quarterback plans for the next two games via ESPN's Adam Schefter . Richardson will start in Thursday's game versus the Baltimore Ravens, while Daniel Jones will do the same in the following game against the Green Bay Packers.
Richardson was criticized last season for sitting on a crucial drive due to tiredness. However, Pat McAfee noted how much different the quarterback looked in training camp.
"A QB update: Colts HC Shane Steichen said Anthony Richardson will start Indianapolis’ first preseason game Thursday vs. the Ravens before Daniel Jones starts their second preseason game vs. the Packers," Schefter said.
The Colts narrowly missed the playoffs last season after going 8-9 in Steichen's first season with the organization.
Richardson's former team, Florida, was featured in the USA TODAY Preseason Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 17 following an 8-5 season. The SEC dominated the poll as a whole, securing nine ranked teams in the top 25.
2024 was the first time in the Billy Napier era that Florida had a winning season and won a bowl game. Napier carries a 19-19 overall record into the 2025 season, which will be his fourth in Gainesville.
Florida opens the year with Long Island on August 30.
