The Georgia Bulldogs spent $80 million to upgrade their football facility after spending $90 million on stadium upgrades in 2020.

The Georgia Rundown

Half of the $80 million came from the team’s budget while $40 million came from donations from private parties. HOK is the primary designer of the building, which features 3 separate floor levels on the initial walk-in. The design creates three floors of high-performance training experiences for student-athletes and coaches. There is also a new indoor practice field. The first level of the facility includes a locker room with a private player’s lounge, equipment room, therapy pools, and a nutrition bar. Corridors feature wood and metal details, plus large video displays of former Bulldogs now in the NFL.

Big Ticket Things for Georgia

Arguably the biggest detail of the whole facility is the locker room. Each player now has their own cubby that has a large TV above that features their name, position, and jersey number. Upon entry, players receive a central player-centric space which includes a dining space, demo kitchen, and a player’s lounge offering comfortable seating, entertainment, and 360-degree views of player development space. The most unique part of the facility is the indoor barber shop, complete with the Georgia tagline of “Sic ‘Em” right on the front glass. Another unique part of Georgia’s new digs is a special uniform display room, which is incredibly only accessible via facial recognition.

The second floor houses rooms such as staff offices, conference rooms, and player support offices. The Georgia weight room is another big addition. It features an expanded weight layout, and the overall weight room look is capped off with Dallas Cowboys stadium-esque televisions and ceiling-to-floor windows that offer a full unobstructed outside look. And of course, the entire facility is decked out in as much red and black as possible. It wouldn’t be Georgia-themed without it.

Conclusion

Other big-name teams have similarly decked-out facilities, one other SEC team being LSU. Georgia may have one-upped the Tigers with their efforts to recruit some more top talent for the upcoming season. For the defending national champions, it’s just the latest chapter in the storied program’s history.
