Insider already has destination in mind for Jakobi Meyers

The only drama that the Las Vegas Raiders saw come through this offseason arrived late, with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requesting a trade.

While the Raiders have gotten contract extensions complete with Maxx Crosby and Kolton Miller, Meyers appears to have reached an impasse. It is unsurprising to see Meyers wants to get paid, especially after crossing the 1,000-yard threshold for the first time last season. Despite the request, however, the Raiders have deemed Meyers too important to their offense to entertain it right now.

If the Raiders decide to make that move, however, one insider is already circling a team who would have some interest.

The Raiders could do business with a familiar team in a potential Meyers deal.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Meyers’s connections within the New York Jets could make them a possibility to call the Raiders about a trade.

“One receiver who might be available is Jakobi Meyers, who reportedly wants the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him,” wrote Cimini. “Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner, a Las Vegas Raiders assistant the previous two seasons, spoke glowingly of Meyers last December: ‘I tell people all the time, he’s one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached.’”

The Raiders most notably traded wide receiver Davante Adams to the Jets during last season, although both teams have since adopted new regimes.

Despite the interest, it is uncertain if the Jets would be interested in a move like this. The wide receiver room is thin behind Garrett Wilson, but the Jets hope second-round rookie tight end Mason Taylor can make up for that. The team also appears to be adopting a more run-oriented style of play, with Justin Fields being a dynamic dual-threat and a one-two punch of Breece Hall and Braelon Allen at running back.

This makes Meyers a questionable fit for the Jets, but they remain a team worth considering if the Raiders are open for business.
