Insider breaks Saints, Derek Carr news with epic typo

The New Orleans Saints are signing longtime Las Vegas Raiders signal-caller Derek Carr to be their next quarterback, according to multiple reports.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo broke the news on Monday morning that a deal between the two sides was close but had an epic typo in his initial tweet. Social media was all over him for the miscue.

Derek Carr is the 31-year-old four-time Pro Bowler who spent his college career at Fresno St. and was selected by the then-Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft at 36th overall. His older brother, David, was taken by the Houston Texans as their first ever draft pick with the first overall selection in the 2002 NFL Draft ahead of their inaugural season.

The elder Carr spent 11 years in the league from 2002 to 2012 with four teams and played in 94 games (79 starts), putting up underwhelming career numbers.

The 43-year-old caught word of Garafolo's blunder and took to Twitter to react. The older brother works with Garafolo for NFL Network as an analyst.

In Garafolo's defense, this is far from the first time that a media member has slipped up with the names of the two brothers. Not only did both Carrs make livings as NFL quarterbacks, but they both went to the same university, their first names both start with "D" and are both five letters.

It's hard to blame Garafolo too much here.
