The Green Bay Packers have been linked to Micah Parsons for much of training camp as the defensive end holds in for a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Amid recent rumors that Green Bay is serious about Parsons, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk confirmed the viral X post that the Packers have an interest in adding the four-time Pro Bowl nominee.
"In response to recent indications from the Twitter user known as “RickeyScoops” (who undoubtedly owns real estate on the NFL’s grapevine) that the Packers want to trade for Parsons, we’ve done some digging," wrote Florio. "Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Packers are “interested.” However, the interest is “nowhere near the smoke that’s out there.”
The report doesn't make it sound like the Packers front office is seriously interested in making an aggressive push for Parsons before the regular season. It's more that they'd be willing to trade for the pass-rusher if the price is cheap enough, something that the Cowboys seem unlikely to do this summer.
The Cowboys have no reason to make a desperate trade. Parsons is under contract for the upcoming season and owner Jerry Jones can apply the franchise tag in 2026 and 2027. Dallas would be foolish to give up the All-Pro for anything less than an overpay this year.
Parsons would help Packers pass rush which was ranked 26th in pass rush win rate in 2024. But he'd cost first-round picks and a lot of cash for a team that has quarterback Jordan Love on a $220 million contract. It's no wonder Green Bay wants a value trade for Parsons.
