Insider Compares Josh Allen's Popularity to Travis Kelce

There is a single path for someone other than Patrick Mahomes to be the most famous player on the Kansas City Chiefs, and it’s dating the world’s most famous pop star.

That’s the needle Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has thread, and his relationship with Taylor Swift has made him one of the most famous athletes on the planet.

He isn’t the only NFL star getting used to the red carpet. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen proposed to Hailee Steinfeld in November, forming the NFL's second couple. Unlike Swift and Kelce, though, Buffalo’s beloved are operating on a more low-key level of fame.

And by the looks of it, they’d like to keep it that way until a championship brings Allen to football immortality. A Bills Super Bowl is the key to Allen’s popularity ascending alongside Steinfeld.

One anonymous source detailed this dynamic to the Daily Mail.

"Besides being at any of her premieres or anything else to support her, Josh and Hailee aren't going to be seen a lot going out to dinner and parading themselves around like Taylor and Travis do," the source says. "Josh will take it as it comes, as winning the Super Bowl is the goal. Everything else can come second. If the Bills were to finally win the Super Bowl, it would take him into a stratosphere even he might not be ready for.

“He doesn't assume that it will get to the levels of Taylor or Travis though, because Taylor is so popular... Plus, Travis is toward the end of his career, whereas Josh has a long way to go."

Allen hasn’t gotten over the hump just yet, but he has grown increasingly (heartbreakingly) close. The Bills have lost to the Chiefs four times in the Mahomes-Allen era. The last three have come by a combined 12 points.

To some, it’s a sign of wasted seasons; others believe it’s just a matter of time before Buffalo is a championship city. For Allen, it would be life-changing.

"He would love to win multiple Super Bowls and be forever placed in the conversation as one of the best. With that, it provides a certain celebrity, but then add a relationship with a Hollywood star, it changes your status and fame pretty quick. He would love to take a lower-profile approach."
