Insider Gives Latest on Raiders-Jalen Ramsey Trade Speculation

The Las Vegas Raiders have made massive strides this offseason under new general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll. Roster reconstruction was needed after a brutal four-win campaign last season, and the new regime has done plenty to fill the team's several holes.

However, after the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders still needed another surefire starting-caliber cornerback. Jakorian Bennett was great last season, but he was injury prone, and the rest of the roster is either young or still unproven in their NFL careers.

One name that has been floated as a potential trade candidate for the Raiders is Jalen Ramsey, cornerback for the Miami Dolphins.

While Ramsey is one of the best defensive backs that the league has seen in recent memory, there are multiple reasons why he has not been traded yet. Raiders insider Vincent Bonsignore from The Las Vegas Review-Journal explained why Ramsey might not be a great fit for the Silver and Black.

"He’s already been traded twice and his third team, the Dolphins, is eager to move on from him," Bonsignore pointed out. "Ramsey also will turn 31 in October, has dealt with a knee injury and is due a lot of money. Any club that trades for him will be on the hook for $21 million in cash this season. That’s a steep price for where he’s at in his career."

Adding Ramsey would certainly raise the floor of the defense, but it may not be the best long-term decision for the franchise. Carroll and Spytek have their sights set on building this team into a contender, and paying so much for a veteran player likely does not fit into that equation.

It may be a rough year for the secondary in Las Vegas, but this young group could learn a lot. Perhaps a veteran player will get added into the mix, but probably not one that carries a $21 million price tag.
