Insider Has ‘If It’s Close’ Steelers QB Prediction

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network believes the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to draft a quarterback over a defensive lineman in the first round.

The remaining question, is which one will they get?

"I would just say if you have conviction on one of those quarterbacks, if Shedeur Sanders got down there, if you have a lot of love in the building for Jaxson Dart - whatever it is - if you have conviction, then take the quarterback," Jeremiah said on Friday during an internet call with the media. "If it is at all close, take the quarterback."

The Steelers might have to have to do something with movement in the first round, as they do not presently own a pick in the second round.

"I think it limits their ability to move up," Jeremiah said. "It could be very costly for them to move up with next year's draft so that's one side of it. To me, if they are not in love with a quarterback, I could see them being a team that's more than available and ready and willing to move back."

If the Steelers do take a quarterback, they might then have to figure out whether they want to go running back or defensive lineman in the third round. They are fortunate in that those are two very deep positions in this year's draft class.

"I think they can just take the highest-rated player, and they will still have options in the third round," Jeremiah said. "I think there's gonna be guys at both positions in the third round. They happen to be two of the deeper positions in the draft."
