QB Kenny Pickett was quickly ruled out with a knee injury in the Steelers 30-6 loss to the Texans in Week 4, which had many fearing the worst. One insider shed some positive light on his injury.
According to NFL Networks' Ian Rapoport, Pickett suffered a bone bruise in his knee and the door is still open for him to play in Week 5 when Pittsburgh hosts the Ravens (3-1).
The team may opt to sit the second-year quarterback with a bye in Week 6, but it will likely come down to how Pickett feels later in the week and the amount of confidence it has in backup QB Mitch Trubisky, who has thrown for 11,922 yards, 68 touchdowns and 43 interceptions in his career.
Although it is undetermined whether Pickett will miss any time, Steelers insider Chris Adamski says Pickett had "nothing at all on his knee" and had "no limp or any encumbered labored walk" while walking through the locker room on Monday.
It may be smart, however, to sit Pickett this week. The 25-year-old could use the next couple of weeks to get fully healthy and reset after an underwhelming start to the season.
Pickett has thrown for 803 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions and is responsible for eight of the 11 sacks the Steelers have allowed this year, according to Pro Football Focus.
Here is an example of Pickett running right into Houston's pressure in Week 4.
absolutely no reason for Kenny Pickett to run into the teeth of this pressure when there's so much more room to his left

There is an argument for Pickett to play as a win against Baltimore would give Pittsburgh the lead in the AFC North, but if Pittsburgh believes in Trubisky to get the job done, there may not have to be a long discussion at all.
