One of the main storylines of the Miami Dolphins' offseason has been the trade rumors swirling around All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With Dolphins' general manager Chris Grier mentioning their desire to trade Ramsey, multiple additions must be made in the cornerback room by the start of the year.
In a segment on NFL Network, NFL Insider for NFL Network and Fox Sports Brian Baldinger called for the Dolphins to sign free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Baldinger said, "It seems like Stephon Gilmore going to South Beach, that's good for an older guy."

Gilmore is 34 years old and will turn 35 at the beginning of the season. Bringing him in would not cost a lot and would immediately upgrade any cornerback on the roster not named Ramsey.
If the Dolphins trade Ramsey, adding Gilmore would be a huge need, as their cornerback room would be severely limited in his absence. Storm Duck, Cam Smith, and rookie fifth-rounder Jason Marshall Jr. would be the primary outside cornerbacks.
That group is not good enough for the Dolphins' current state as a franchise. It's not a rebuilding year; the Dolphins have Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle under contract. The Dolphins need to compete now, and their cornerback room, other than Ramsey, needs an upgrade.
Gilmore could come into that room and immediately start. Baldinger also believes that Gilmore would be a good fit and play well for them. "I feel like Stephon could fit in down there and play well for them right now."
The 13-year veteran is a five-time Pro-Bowler, with two All-Pros and a Defensive Player of the Year award from 2019 with the New England Patriots. Gilmore has 32 interceptions across 180 games and 173 starts in his NFL career.
If the Dolphins did sign Gilmore, it would be his third team in the AFC East; only the New York Jets wouldn't have had Gilmore on their team for a time.
Miami clearly need an outside cornerback, and adding someone of Gilmore's caliber would be a huge addition to a secondary that could be losing an incredible player in Ramsey.
