Insider suggests Raiders looking into trade market at two positions

With two preseason games now under their belt, the Las Vegas Raiders now have a clearer idea of what their team is looking like heading into the regular season.

The results have shown some promise, but the team as a whole is far from perfect. Issues have popped up between the games against the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, and the Raiders have had to shore them up as they appear. With next Saturday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals serving as their dress rehearsal for the regular season, the team is running out of time to make any moves they feel are necessary.

It is precisely why one insider is convinced the Raiders are going to make a deal before the season comes along.

The Raiders have valid reasons to make moves at both suggested positions.

On the “Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast,” Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter has the Raiders looking to make a deal for either a wide receiver or a cornerback.

“I can tell you I would not be shocked with a Raiders trade at wide receiver or corner right now… I would not be surprised,” Carpenter said. “I don’t think anything is imminent… but if they are able to make a deal, remember I told you that first.”

From the results of the preseason, it makes sense why the Raiders would look at both spots.

At wide receiver, the Raiders are currently hoping one of Tre Tucker, Dont’e Thornton Jr. or Jack Bech break out beside Jakobi Meyers, but adding another receiver could reduce the risk of that scenario. Cornerback is more of a pressing need, as the Raiders traded Jakorian Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles and have not named a starting duo yet. The decisions are sending mixed signals about the status of their current group, and it is hard to think the team will not make an improvement if they find an opportunity.

With the roster cutoff date little over a week away and the season fast approaching, the Raiders will have to decide quickly what their best course of action is.
