Inspired by Damar Hamlin, NFL to provide free CPR training at Super Bowl

The NFL and the American Heart Association are teaming up at the Super Bowl to provide a mobile training unit that will offer free hands-only CPR training, according to the Associated Press

The initiative was inspired by the life-saving treatment Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin received on the field in Cincinnati in early January after he collapsed on the field following a tackle.

The AMA is also working with Hamlin on his #3forHeart CPR Challenge, a social media movement that encourages people to learn CPR.

Jeff Miller, an NFL executive, told the Associated Press that after the events with Hamlin in Cincinnati, the league looked for opportunities to "share some of the learnings" that came from it.

Hamlin needed CPR on the field for several minutes during the first quarter of the Bills' Week 16 game in Cincinnati after suffering a cardiac arrest during a tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

The game was postponed and never completed.

In the month since Hamlin has been released from the hospital and is back home in Buffalo. He made an appearance at the Bills' playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was at a recent taping of "The Masked Singer."
