Intel emerges about Stefon Diggs' visit with Patriots

The New England Patriots hosted Stefon Diggs for a free-agent visit as they explore ways to improve their wide receiver room, and some new information about the meeting has surfaced.

Diggs, who played in the AFC East for four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, visited New England on Wednesday and Thursday. The Patriots are in desperate need of a reliable wideout, which is why many thought they would offer Diggs a contract. If there was an offer, Diggs turned it down.

According to Karen Guregian and Mark Daniels of MassLive.com, Diggs' visit with the Patriots "went well." The 31-year-old left without a deal, however, and the feeling is that an agreement is not imminent.

Diggs had dinner with Patriots staff members on Wednesday night and then underwent testing on Thursday to see how he is progressing in his rehab from a torn ACL.

The Bills traded Diggs to the Houston Texans last offseason. He was having a productive year with 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns through eight games before he tore his ACL.

If Diggs is healthy, he could fill a significant need in New England. The Patriots last week added Mack Hollins to a wide receiver group that features DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne and Kayshon Boutte. A healthy Diggs would immediately be the most talented player of the bunch.

Diggs made the Pro Bowl in all four of his seasons with Buffalo. He played for the Minnesota Vikings before to that and had a stretch of six straight 1,000-yard seasons prior to 2024.
