Is A Gabe Davis Bills Reunion Worth A Bills Look?
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

All offseason, we have heard how the Buffalo Bills have to get Josh Allen a No. 1 weapon if he is to take this team to the Super Bowl.

We have dismissed that take as last season, the Bills averaged 30.9 points a game and made it to the AFC Championship game, and had the ball with a chance to go win the game...without a No. 1 weapon.

With Josh Palmer signed in free agency along with Elijah Moore and Laviska Shenault Jr., the Bills have added some nice pieces...but some want more.

Okay, you got us - let's indulge in this odd take.

There are a couple of things to work through here.

At this stage of the offseason, who is a receiver who is going to be at the top of the depth chart for the Bills and be willing to take a serious cut in salary? Hint, there aren't any.

However, if we are going to explore this scenario, there is one name that, if the Bills absolutely had to have another receiver, makes a little sense, and that is Gabriel Davis.

Having been cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars just one season into his three-year deal, as he suffered an injury in Week 11 that ended his season, and he was also in poor form prior to that (just 239 yards, two touchdowns from 20 receptions in 10 games).

So why would this make sense? Let's take a walk.

The biggest reason is the chemistry Davis has with Allen, as he posted at least 500 yards and six touchdowns in each of his four seasons in Buffalo. Not to mention his playoff exploits.

Now, Davis won't be a top receiver, but he could slot in nicely somewhere in the depth chart. Another factor to consider is the financial aspect. A vet minimum contract would likely be forthcoming due to Buffalo's cap constraints.

Would Davis want that? Who knows.

But if we want to push this idea that the Bills need a new receiver, Davis might be the best bet.

Now, would we do it? No. But if push came to shove, Davis in Buffalo isn't the worst idea.
