After losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night, the Baltimore Ravens now sit at 4-5. A season that started with such high promise and expectations has unraveled into a nightmare. Now, with quarterback Lamar Jackson injured and potentially out for the season, it may be time for the Ravens to embrace the tank.
Rap: Lamar Jackson (right thumb) likely to miss rest of the season.

The Ravens’ season started off on a high note with a 41-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts, in a game that saw Derrick Henry rush for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jackson looked like an MVP candidate, guiding the team to a 3-1 record throwing for 967 yards and six touchdowns and only one pick. He also added 144 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.
However, Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain in the Ravens Week 4 win against the Tennessee Titans. Jackson then missed the next three games, with Tyler Huntley taking over as starter and going 1-2.
Things would go from bad to worse in Week 8. Jackson was declared ready to play in the teams matchup against the Buffalo Bills, yet suffered a thumb injury on the teams first offensive snap, which would later land him on IR. Huntley would then takeover before he suffered a season-ending toe injury in the second quarter. Third stringer Joe Fagnano finished the game.
With the injuries mounting, the team traded for Jacoby Brissett on Thursday, just hours before the team was blown out at home 33-10 to the Jaguars. Now, the Ravens sit at 4-5 and with no clear direction, it may be time for the team to blow it up.
There is no doubt the Ravens have enough talent. Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, Kyle Hamilton, and Trey Hendrickson are all big time players. But, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone gets moved, with Henry being linked to trade rumors.
What makes it worse for the Ravens is the competitiveness of the AFC North. The Steelers, Bengals, and Browns all have winning records and hold the edge over the Ravens.
However, the Ravens season isn’t over yet. Depending on how the season goes, Jackson could return late in the season.
Lamar Jackson’s future THIS SEASON in Baltimore could depend on the success that Jacoby Brissett and the Ravens have the rest of the season, per @TomPelissero.

It’s clear the Ravens are reluctant to sell. Henry is a potential name that has been in trade rumors as well as aging cornerback Marlon Humphrey. The Ravens final four games are all against division opponents, which could make or break their season and Lamar’s comeback. If not, it could be another long offseason filled with more questions than answers.
