Is Packers HC Matt LaFleur's job in question?

The NFL is an unforgiving sport at times. For coaches, one losing season is one too many. It's common for NFL head coaches to even lose their gigs after just one season.

It may not even be their fault. Sometimes, the head coach is the scapegoat. Other times, it's just that a change needs to be made.

Nate Davis of USA Today has released a list of coaches in the hot seat for 2026. Even established guys like Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh and Sean McDermott moved on from their longtime franchises.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur could be in the hot seat this season

Davis has Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur in the hot seat. Given the Packers are a demanding franchise, it's not a wild thought.

Davis notes that even though the coach has "won nearly two-thirds of his games through seven seasons and only missed the playoffs only once, the Packers have barely qualified for the past three postseasons, the No. 7 seed in each and only have one playoff win since trading Aaron Rodgers three years ago."

Davis also adds that he's "a coach who pushed back on the need for a No. 1 receiver – after experiencing so much success with Davante Adams early in his tenure – and learned his fleet of No. 2-caliber receivers was unhappy last year and unsure of their roles."

It's also a messy situation for the Packers heading into the 2026 season, with star Micah Parsons likely missing early games due to his injury and running back Josh Jacobs possibly facing a suspension. If the Packers go down this season, LaFleur may take the blame.
