Is there hope that Tua improves?

It should be a foregone conclusion by now that Tua Tagovailoa will be with the Miami Dolphins in 2026, given the prohibitive contract he was given by former General Manager Chris Grier, with the support of Coach Mike McDaniel.

And, unfortunately for the Miami Dolphins, his poor performance in 2025 makes it impossible to trade him.

Was Tua a franchise quarterback in 2022 and 2023?

Some fans considered him just that, but he was never more than above average at best.

In the most important games and crucial situations, Tua was missing in action.

So, how do we as loyal fans respond for the remainder of this year?

The Dolphins are no longer the flashy offense that existed in 2023.

And as fans, we will continue to be disappointed if we expect to see that version of the Dolphins again.

And the reality is that Tua is playing with very little confidence in 2025, and with a diminished skill set compounded by his injury history.

Not Tua’s fault, it is just the reality of his situation.

Yet, we are literally tied to Tua for the remainder of this year and in 2026.

What choice do we have as fans but to support our favorite team despite how painful that may be?

There are a few alternatives as to how the Dolphins get out of this quarterback hell.

Tua will undoubtedly play out this year as QB1 unless his performance continues to regress so egregiously that even his quarterback whisperer, McDaniel, is forced to bench him.

And that may not be a bad idea: allowing Quinn Ewers a shot to play this year.

The Dolphins need to know whether there are any roster alternatives to Tua before the offseason.

Knowing that will help the team determine its direction in 2026 with the draft and free agency.

Let’s finally admit that drafting Tua over the other existing quarterbacks taken in the 2020 draft was a huge mistake.

The most glaring issue now is what we can do at quarterback in the future.
