Ever since the Miami Dolphins made their trade for Tyreek Hill, the internet has been buzzing about him.

He fueled the fires with his new podcast, in which he aired out some stuff from his time in Kansas City.

With what he said, NFL fans are now debating how good, or bad, Hill really is as a receiver.

However, there are three reasons he isn’t overrated as an NFL receiver.

3. Hill Earned His Spot After Starting As A Return Man

When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Hill in the fifth round, he was fourth on the depth chart and was primarily a return man.

However, he would show in his career how good he was, and not just as a return man.

He wasn’t expected to even be drafted by any team, yet Kansas City took a chance with him.

Many teams passed on him, yet he’s turned out to be a superstar.

But they thought he couldn’t make it in the NFL, which was a mistake for them.

During his rookie season, he finished the year with 593 receiving yards, 592 punt return yards, and 384 kick return yards.

He also had three touchdowns from punt and kick returns and six receiving touchdowns.

These things were key in him getting a push into a starting role with Kansas City the following year.

2. He’s One Of The Fastest Receivers On The Field

When asking NFL players what is one of the best qualities to have, they will say it’s speed.

As the saying goes, speed kills.

It’s one of the main things about Hill in his NFL career.

His speed has earned him the nickname of Cheetah.

He’s used that speed as a return man and later as a receiver to help score touchdowns.

With him being so fast, it’s hard for defenders to catch up with him after he gets that head start.

It’s also why the Dolphins made a deal with Kansas City to get Hill.

They want a receiver that can outrun defenders after he gets the ball.

But there’s one more skill he possesses that makes him so great.

1. Hill’s Ability To Catch Passes Make Him A Great Receiver

While with Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes, he had some great one-handed catches.

His sure hands made him a favorite target with the team.

It also helped him with the stats as a Chiefs receiver.

However, some will point out that those hands weren’t as good in 2021 as they were in the past.

But even Hill would contest that sometimes it’s about the ball being near you.

Whether last year was a hiccup because of Mahomes, something that’s been insinuated is yet to be seen.

However, Hill’s stats show his highest drop-to-target percentage was in 2021 at 4.4%.

In both 2020 and 2019, it was below 4%.

So having below 4% is a solid number for him against the rest of the league.

Especially if those dropped passes resulted from him trying to make a play.

So with a new quarterback and new team, Hill feels his hands are good enough going into 2022.
