It’s hard not to be happy about the progress we’ve seen from Jets wide receiver Isaiah Williams in the space of just a few weeks. With fans demanding his release after a fumble and a boneheaded fair catch at his own two-yard line, the young Illinois product his showing a bit of resiliency.
We commented just last night on how well he played against the Bengals. Not only on special teams as a return man, but as a blocker, pass catcher and one one play, running the ball out of the backfield.
It won't get you fantasy points so most won't notice, but the @nyjets got fantastic blocking from Isaiah Williams and Allen Lazard vs Cincy. Can't have those long runs without it.
Both do a really nice job here on the long Breece Hall TD run. pic.twitter.com/ifhmRvhYaV

Williams did most of his damage as a return man where he returned five kicks for 132 yards and three punts for 38. But in looking at coaches film in the days that followed the game, Williams really stood out as a blocker and ran quality routes, allowing him to pull in 3 catches for 31 yards.
It’s a small step forward for the former Illinois receiver, but it’s a far cry from where he was to open up the month of October on a Monday night against the Dolphins when his gaffes led to his release. But now he’s back and making the most of his chance.
