The Denver Broncos' trade to acquire wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins last week was met with almost universal praise from the fan base.
It was no secret that Denver needed to add a playmaker this offseason to help take the offense to the next level.
Waddle, a former first-round draft pick, is an ideal fit in Sean Payton's offense. And he's a great culture fit, too.
But while the trade undoubtedly makes the Broncos a better team, at least one Denver player is wondering what it means for his fit in the offense moving forward.
Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims, who is entering his fourth season in the NFL, spoke with Altitude TV over the weekend about the trade for Waddle.
Mims admitted that the move surprised him. He also admitted that he wonders what it means for his role in the offense moving forward.
"I think it really surprised me, you know, just bringing in a guy like that," said Mims. "But if you look at his career ever since high school or college and now, I mean, he's just an explosive playmaker. I think offensively, we always need more playmakers. I think it's really fun to watch. So we'll just see how it all comes out this season."
"Yeah, a little bit," added Mims when asked if he questions how he'll fit in the offense. "It's just interesting to see how I'll fit in in the offense. But at the end of the day, just for me, the past two years, the thing I've taken pride in has been being able to play running back, be a returner or be a receiver. So any way I can affect the game, I'm happy to go out there and do it."

Mims certainly has a good attitude about Waddle joining the offense, but it's also clear that he's at least a little concerned about what it means for his role moving forward.
The former Oklahoma Sooners standout, however, should still make a big impact in the return game.
As for his fit in the offense, it's not like Mims was trending to be the next superstar WR1. Adding Waddle isn't going to suddenly eliminate Mims' role from the offense.
Mims is a versatile player who can line up anywhere on the field. If anything, the addition of Waddle could help provide more opportunities for Mims as defenses will have to account for more playmakers in Denver's offense.
I'm sure Mims will be informed of the plan moving forward well before training camp gets underway later this summer.
