Just back in January, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Elijah Cooks was just another practice squad member. Now he's making great plays in training camp.
Over the last week, there have been reports out of Eagles camp that Cooks has been making some nice plays at receiver. ESPN Eagles beat reporter Tim McManus shared his spectacular play on Monday while facing up against potential starting cornerback Adoree' Jackson.
"Another day, another highlight play from WR Elijah Cooks. He elevated to make a sideline grab with Adoree' Jackson in coverage."

Cooks' NFL journey began as an undrafted free agent for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he appeared in just two games in his rookie season of 2023, recording three receptions for 38 yards. Last year, he spent the season on the Jaguars' practice squad before the Eagles brought him in back in January.
The major advantage Cooks has over the other Eagles receivers is his 6-foot-4 height. Philly is still hoping that Johnny Wilson will be able to emerge in that outside receiver role to throw to in the red zone. If Wilson doesn't work out, Cooks appears to be a solid second option.
It's not going to be easy for Cooks to claw his way onto the roster with A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Docton on top of the depth chart. Terrace Marshall Jr. and Danny Gray have been receiving their own praise in training camp, while Wilson and Ainias Smith are Philly's 2023 draft picks.
Cooks is starting to look more and more like he will at least be a lock for a practice squad spot, but he has continued to make some nice plays. It's only a matter of whether he can keep that momentum going and ball out during preseason games to separate himself from the rest of the pass catchers on the roster.
