The reason for having MarShawn Lloyd on your roster was that Josh Jacobs not playing allowed him to be the Green Bay Packers RB1. However, that time is coming to an end.
Even though Lloyd will be the starter as the Packers take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, that should be the last time we see him as RB1. Adam Schefter posted this on X on October 16th:
“ESPN sources: Packers RB Josh Jacobs is being removed from the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list on Monday…Jacobs is expected to be eligible to play in Week 7.”
With that being the case, Lloyd doesn’t have much fantasy football value anymore, outside of being a handcuff.
Now, for a moment in time, you could make the argument that Jacobs won’t get a large workload right away, but according to this post on X from SleeperNFL citing Tom Pelissero, they posted this:
“Jacobs will immediately return as the Packers’ starting RB next week at Detroit, per
@TomPelissero”
Considering that Jacobs isn’t coming off an injury and Lloyd has been disappointing as a runner with just 2.8 YPC on the season, this makes sense. Now, if you want to argue that you can keep Lloyd on your fantasy football team for one more week, that’s very situational, but in a recent TWSN article, I talked about why you should leave him on your bench.
With Lloyd not having any long-term value in fantasy football, it’s time to cut him from your roster.
