The Jacksonville Jaguars have finished their coaching staff. They have completely finished it, position coaches and all, without having a general manager on the staff for this upcoming season, which could either make you worried, or excited -- you decide.
But one other thing they have done with this coaching staff, despite not having a general manager, which they are still working on, is putting together a staff that has young, brilliant football minds. It's an obvious trend that the NFL is heading toward -- hiring guys who don't have a ton of experience but have enough with this new era and generation of football. It's a movement that got guys like Sean McVay, the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, his job.
Other guys have benefited from this movement as well. That's just part of what the NFL is. You can do that, or you can hire the older guys who have won before, although it was a long time ago in a different era of football, much like the Las Vegas Raiders did with Pete Carroll.
This staff that new head coach Liam Coen has put together, fits the description of a staff in the new era. The average age of this coaching staff is 45 years old, and while that seems like it's not very young, it is for a bunch of coaches.
The one who really brings that average age down is the new offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, who is only 29 years old, but has a lot of football experience. Nonetheless, he deserves the position he is now in, on a very young staff.
But, having this young staff can be both good and bad, for several different reasons.
The good thing with this staff is, that the Jaguars have a great young staff that can provide innovative thinking and can factor in positive results with that thinking. They have seen this new era of football, and are going to be open to doing a lot of new stuff -- things that maybe older guys would want to stay away from because they want to keep it old school, per se.
There is a frustrating thing is that a lot of these young coaches will get poached by other teams for higher positions, very much so how the Jaguars just did with their head coach Liam Coen from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, offensive coordinator Grant Udinski from the Minnesota Vikings, and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile from the Green Bay Packers.

Then, you find yourself replacing these guys far more than you would if it's an older guy who's been there, done that and doesn't really want to be a head coach again.
But, there are positives and negatives to it all. The good thing is, the Jaguars have their stuff done and ready to go.
