Jacksonville Jaguars' new offensive coordinator Grant Udinski has a huge advantage at his position that few have

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set for the 2025 season in terms of their coaching staff. It's done and they have a staff that is significantly younger than most coaching staffs around the league, which can be positive and negative, depending on how you look at it.

One of the sneakiest gets for this coaching staff has to be the offensive coordinator position. The Jaguars were able to go and get Grant Udinski, the Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach, who helped the Vikings revitalize Sam Darnold's career. And, this isn't a huge get because Trevor Lawrence needs his career revitalized or anything, but the guy does need his career to start taking off, and a season that could place him in that top-five category of QBs.

But, there are other reasons this hire was a sneaky good one. Sure, you may argue the experience isn't really there. However, he has the ability to do what not many people can in his position.

"It's that aggregate of knowledge to kind of impart on these guys. But I think beyond the teaching, and the intricacies, here's what you're seeing, here's what you should be seeing, just his ability to connect. I really do think that being 29 years old and connecting with these players are his biggest strengths." Minnesota Vikings beat writer and reporter Dane Mizutani.

And, Mizutani is completely right. Older coaches with experience would not be able to have that connection as well. You want your team to feel like a brotherhood, and having a younger guy who is the same age kind of helps that culture.

This is an advantage for the Jaguars because there aren't many offensive coordinators as young as Udinski is. He is the second youngest, behind the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who is 28. The Jaguars are catching on to the younger coaching staff trend, and this time it feels like it could work out.
