The Jacksonville Jaguars traded running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday in exchange for a fifth and sixth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. To replace him, the Jaguars have signed second-year RB Cody Schrader off the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad.

Additionally, the team has agreed to terms with RB Cody Schrader.
Bigsby became expendable after starter Travis Etienne looked like his old self in Week 1, racking up 143 rushing yards and three receptions for 13 yards during Jacksonville's 26-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. Receiving two draft picks for a backup RB was too sweet for the Jags to pass up.
Schrader will be joining Etienne, LeQuint Allen Jr., and Bhayshul Tuten in Jacksonville's backfield. Although it will take Schrader some time to get acclimated and earn his stripes with the team, he is a similar back to Bigsby.
Bigsby has a bit of a bigger frame than Schrader, but Schrader runs big. He is a strong and stocky downhill runner who plays with a high motor. Schrader also has underrated receiving skills, and is solid in pass protection.
Those qualities that he possesses come from how hard he worked during his colligate career. Schrader started off at Truman, a Division II school in Kirksville, Missouri. There he set multiple rushing records, including touchdowns, rushing attempts, rushing yards, and total yards.
Still wanting to prove himself at the Division I level, Schrader made the Missouri Tigers as a walk-on. He quickly became the starting RB, and was named a captain in his second year. Schrader went on to set Mizzou's single-season rushing record at 1,627 yards in 2023. He also became the first player in SEC history to record 200 running yards and 100 receiving yards in a single game.
Schrader had a strong season during preseason with the Rams, recording 120 rushing yards on just nine carries, along with three catches for 33 yards and a touchdown. That was good enough to be activated for the Rams' Week 1 game against the Houston Texans, where he played four special teams snaps. Once Schrader settles in with the Jaguars, he could push Allen Jr. and Tuten for some reps.
