The Jacksonville Jaguars vs Philadelphia Eagles matchup in Week 9 was supposed to be scheduled for Sunday Night Football but due to the Jaguars’ 2-6 record, the game was flexed to the early late afternoon slate. The Philadelphia Eagles enter this home game in the Kelly Greens for the first time in 2024 on a high, winning three straight for a 5-2 record. Jalen Hurts has been one of the strongest quarterbacks in fantasy since the Eagles’ bye week. Here’s a look at the DFS slate for Jaguars vs Eagles.
Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.
AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both should have huge days against Jacksonville at home especially when they both have been productive at times during this win streak. Brown has been electric all season for Philly, averaging 21.5 fantasy points on Draft Kings, and Smith has averaged 14.6 fantasy points on Draft Kings as well. Philadelphia has unlocked something with the passing game these last three weeks, especially the Cincinnati game. Expect Brown and Smith to find the end zone this week against Jacksonville.
Barkley didn’t reach the end zone last week against Cincy but was still effective with over 100 yards on the ground. I expect Barkley to continue his stellar season at home against the Jaguars defense that gave up two touchdowns to Josh Jacobs last week. Philadelphia will be creative and use Barkley a bit more in the passing game this week.
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.
Philadelphia has been one of the best-run defenses in football this season overall with the play of the D-Line and the surprising play of Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun. So even though Etienne and Bigsby have been effective at times this year for the Jaguars, don’t play these guys against Philadelphia if you want to have a successful lineup.
Lawrence was effective last week against Green Bay, especially late in the game, when he threw the tying touchdown to Evan Engram before Green Bay won on a GW field goal. But with Christian Kirk out with a broken collarbone and Brian Thomas Jr. questionable this week, his options are pretty much limited against a Philly secondary that has improved immensely since the insertion of Cooper Dejean into the starting lineup.
Jalen Hurts is back as one of the top fantasy options at the quarterback position, had a huge 35 fantasy point day against the Bengals last Sunday. Hurts will capitalize in this favorable matchup against the 31st-ranked defense against quarterbacks. Philadelphia’s offense will continue their hot streak in the Kelly Green’s on Sunday especially with the recent changes to trends with adding the under-center game to this offense from Kellen Moore’s scheme. Also, Jalen Hurts should have more opportunities to run the football this week.
The Jaguars’ defense is once again in the fire against an Eagles offense that has finally figured it out at all levels of their game. The Eagles will score over 30 again this week and will finally score a first-quarter point this season against Jacksonville. This should be the easiest avoid/sit possible this week in the overall DFS slate for Week 9.
The Eagles are a huge favorite at home against Jacksonville and the fact that this game is LeSean McCoy Eagles Hall of Fame induction makes the Eagles a strong play in betting and DFS alone. Expect Philadelphia to have a similar performance as Detroit did against the Titans last weekend in this one.
