Jacksonville Jaguars rookie two-way player Travis Hunter came into the 2025 season with a lot of hype surrounding him. He was drafted with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jaguars after an incredible two seasons in college with the Colorado Buffaloes.

In 2024, Hunter won the Heisman Trophy and was a consensus All-American after catching 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as a wide receiver and totaling 36 tackles with four interceptions as a defensive back.

Since entering the NFL this season, Hunter has continued to play on both sides of the ball, but he has not yet seen the same success he did during his collegiate years. Through seven games this season, four of which he started, the 22-year-old has 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on offense to go along with 15 total tackles and three pass breakups on defense.

He has helped the Jaguars to a 4-3 record, which has them in second place in the AFC South, trailing only the 7-1 Indianapolis Colts.

On Thursday, as the Jaguars prepared for their matchup on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, Hunter sustained a knee injury at practice.

On Friday, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen spoke to the media and updated Hunter's status.

"Just a quick update, Travis Hunter was injured during practice on Thursday," Coen said. "He will be placed on IR here shortly, will miss at least four games. We're currently assessing the injury just to determine the best course of action moving forward for Travis and for the team."

Hunter being placed on the injured reserve is a big blow for a Jaguars team that is already struggling. Jacksonville has lost each of its past two games and will be without a big piece on offense and defense for at least four games.

The Jaguars take on the Raiders (2-5) at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium on Fox.
