Jaguars Coach Makes Early Impression Of Travis Hunter Clear

Travis Hunter aims to break the NFL mold and uplift the Jacksonville Jaguars on both sides of the football.

Jacksonville traded up to select the Heisman Trophy winner with the No. 2 pick. The Jaguars plan to keep deploying Hunter as a wide receiver and cornerback during the 2025 season.

Grant Udinski will thus get well acquainted with Hunter this summer. The 29-year-old joins Jacksonville's staff as Liam Coen's new offensive coordinator.

Udinski gushed over Hunter during an interview with The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov.

"He's been an injection of energy into not just the offense, but I think the team," Udinski said. "What you see on TV — him dancing around or bringing the juice and all that energy to practice — that is genuine. That's the real deal right there."

The 22-year-old rookie combines his passion with an eagerness to learn from his new coaches.

"He's a lot of fun to be around," Udinski said. "Not only because he brings that energy, but because he's a football guy in the sense that he loves football, wants to be great, willing to work, wants to talk about things, wants to go over things."

Udinski echoed Coen's comments that Hunter can "run all day." He feels Hunter has the stamina and skill to prepare for two positions during his first NFL training camp.

"He's out there excited about practice, and he's practicing hard for the entire time he's practicing," Udinski said. "So that's exciting for me, as a coach, to be a part of that."

Hunter can ignite a Jaguars fanbase hungry for a contender following a four-win season. The former Colorado star could immediately blossom into a top target for Trevor Lawrence alongside second-year receiver Brian Thomas Jr., but Hunter also hopes to help a defense that allowed an NFL-worst 4,375 passing yards last season.

Fans may gain a better sense of how the Jaguars will utilize Hunter once training camp begins on Wednesday.
