The Jacksonville Jaguars can mark off a massive task for this offseason. Their first-round selection from the 2025 NFL Draft is officially signed to his rookie contract.
The Jaguars have signed Travis Hunter to his 4-year rookie contract, according to the team. The deal is worth $46.6 million with a $30.5 million signing bonus. That bonus is the key aspect for both the rookie and the Jags in this scenario, though.

Hunter's deal includes a completely upfront signing bonus, according to Adam Schefter. He's the first non-quarterback in NFL history to garner that piece of a rookie deal.

That feels incredibly notable, but it matches the planning and decision-making from Jacksonville's new front office so far. They are aggressive and trust themselves. They wanted Hunter in round one of this year's draft and made sure it happened with a trade up.
Now, they're expecting him to play a consistent and key role for them on a weekly basis. With that, they're rewarding the type of player they project him to be during his first deal in the pros.
Jacksonville's focus has solely been on getting this done recently, and their clear mindset is what they have to thank for that.
The biggest perk of this move is, obviously, the fact that they acquired one of, if not the best player, in the 2025 NFL Draft. Another perk has become clear, though, thanks to them trading away their second round pick as part of the deal. We will see if this decision pays off for both sides. Hunter is officially in the boat for the Jaguars.
