Jaguars Have Engaged WR Parker Washington In Extension Talks

Parker Washington is set to enter the final season of his rookie contract, and it sounds like the Jaguars are navigating a limited window to extend the wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars have indeed engaged in extension talks with the ascending wideout. While the organization is willing to continue those talks into the regular season, Fowler reports that Washington “would prefer not to do so.” The reporter adds that an extension could end up coming to fruition, although nothing is imminent.

The 2023 sixth-round pick dealt with a secondary role on Jacksonville’s offense through his first two years in the NFL, but he started to break out in 2025. Washington finished the campaign with career-highs in receptions (58), receiving yards (847), and receiving touchdowns (five). He was especially productive down the stretch, averaging 100 yards per game over his team’s final four contests.

The Jaguars are clearly hoping for another step forward from Washington in 2026, although he does face some competition for reps. 2024 first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr. is still around, and the Jaguars added veteran Jakobi Meyers to their receivers corps last year. It’s uncertain how much of a role Travis Hunter will have in the offense this season, but the former second-overall pick looms as a notable wild card.

Either way, Washington’s production in 2025 should be enough to secure him a notable pay day. Just this past offseason, Alec Pierce inked a four-year, $114MM deal with the Colts despite only having a single 1,000-yard season on his resume. If Washington improves on his numbers in 2026 and subsequently hits free agency, he could command a contract that exceeds a $30MM average annual value.
